A readymade, annotated — the sanitary apparatus as substrate.
In 1917 an unaltered object entered the museum on a signature. The gesture holds: provenance, not fabrication, is what converts an apparatus into an artifact. The draft plate identifies the parts — outlet array, containment vessel, primary drain — the way a systems diagram identifies any infrastructure.
The second study translates the gesture. Two nodes already exist on the wall — the data lake, the compute iron — and between them a dashed volume where the container should be. The absence is drawn to dimension. W.200, gap undefined.
The object is the foundation. The substrate is the open hole. R. Mutt signs both.
